Jill Penaloza, Certified Sheng Zhen Teacher
Jill was introduced to Sheng Zhen Gong in 2001 and has practiced this heart-centered system of moving and non-moving meditation since this time. From the beginning, Jill felt a deep affinity for these soft yet powerful movements that expand qi and inspire deep states of awareness and connection to the universe.
Jill is a student of world renowned teachers, Master Li JunFeng and Li Jing, and has studied locally with Pamela Tanton. Jill has been a certified Sheng Zhen Meditation teacher since 2013 and currently offers classes at the Gampopa Center in Annapolis, Maryland and workshops in Charlottesville, VA.
Jill’s love for Sheng Zhen and for her students comes through in her gentle style of teaching and in the heartfelt way she has of meeting students where they are.

In addition to teaching this beautiful moving meditation in weekly qigong classes, Pamela also serves on the National Board of the Sheng Zhen Society of the Americas, that’s dedicated to establishing and maintaining an educational center in the U.S.
In addition, since the early 1990's, Pamela has been a health writer, with a focus on medical education, doctor-patient communication, mental health and substance abuse treatment. She lives in an old residential Baltimore neighborhood surrounded by trees.
Peter Van Buren, Certified Sheng Zhen Teacher
Peter was first introduced to tai chi practice in 1978, studying with Paul Gallagher in Hadley Massachusetts. Over the years since then, he studied and practiced tai chi regularly, including locally with the Great River Taoist Center in Washington DC in the 1990's, and the Baltimore School of Tai Chi, at which he was an assistant teacher in the mid-2000's.
In 2005, he was introduced to Sheng Zhen Gong by Pamela Tanton, and gradually turned all his attention to this new form of practice. After logging hundreds of hours of class time with Pamela, and attending numerous workshops with Master Li, Peter finally attended his first teacher training session in the spring of 2015. This 10-day intensive training in Austin TX conducted by Master Li and Li Jing convinced Peter that he wanted to become a Certified Sheng Zhen Teacher himself and share this powerful practice with others.
He co-taught or led 3-4 class a week over the next year to quickly fulfill the requirements for teaching time, and received his Certification from Master Li at a second intensive Teacher Training in June 2016. He now teaches weekly classes in Baltimore.
